Poems for Celebrant Weddings

Poems and readings are excellent when it comes to writing celebrant-led wedding ceremonies, bringing the ceremony alive. Couples often choose those that reflect their relationship, their values, or their feelings about marriage. These can be religious or non religious depending on the couple´s preferences. Be sure to speak to your celebrant about this in the early stages if this is something that´s important to you. By incorporating poems and readings into the ceremony, we can help create a much more personal and intimate experience for the couple and their guests.

How What couples think about adding poetry

Couples often ask me about using poems and readings in their celebrant-led wedding ceremony. I encourage this because I believe poems make the ceremony animated, adding a touch that makes the occasion more significant. Including poetry is perfect to truly personalise a ceremony and make it unique and timeless for the couple.

I also love to include readings or poems in my wedding ceremony ideas in my celebrant-led weddings., Because they help to bring the ceremony to another level and make it more dynamic. I usually choose compositions that are meaningful to the couple, or that reflect their relationship in some way. This can really make the ceremony more special memorable and interactive for everyone involved.

How can we incorporate poems in our ceremony

There are many ways to incorporate poetry into your ceremony. For example, choose to read a poem together as part of your vows, or you could ask a friend or family member to read a poem or reading during the ceremony. Alternatively, you could write your own poem to read during the ceremony! Whichever way you choose to do it, incorporating a poem into your celebrant-led wedding ceremony is sure to make it unforgettable. “love is more thicker than forget” by E.E. Cummings is an example of a poem that explores the complexity of love and can be used to add intrigue and interest if this resonates with your story.

“love is more thicker than forget”
love is more thicker than forget
more thinner than recall
more seldom than a wave is wet
more frequent than to fail

by E.E. Cummings

How do we choose poetry for our ceremony

With a celebrant wedding there are no rules and the same applies when choosing a composition. For instance, you could both write down some of your favourite poems and then seek comparisons. Different verses can be added into your ceremony as several snippets . Additionally you can search for poems that reflect some of your most special memories. For example love, sports, dancing, holidays together etc.

To sum up why poems are great for celebrant weddings

Incorporating rhymes into your celebrant wedding is an excellent way to create uniqueness, emotion, fun interaction and interest for your guests.  You want them to keep listening and not fall asleep or get distracted, right! Well poems can achieve that, by making your ceremony energetic. They can be varied in length and style and your celebrant will help with the blend and logistics of timings to suit your ceremony.
